The Danish producer of educational software, Mikro Værkstedet, has launched a new program, "CD-ORD3", which can "read aloud" electronically stored Danish texts. The program makes use of 70,000 words, which have been recorded one at a time. CD-ORD3 has been integrated with Microsoft's Office products and is able for instance to read aloud from Word files. The reading program can also be used for spell checking, as it automatically suggests alternatives, if it encounters a word which it does not recognise. The program is designed for people who are learning to speak and spell in Danish, and those with poor eyesight.
